Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital employs a dietitian on a part-time basis for 20 hours a week. The dietician's office is located on the first floor of the Clinical Services Building.
What is a dietitian?
A dietitian is an allied health care practitioner who specialises in human nutrition. A dietician is skilled in prescribing what should be eaten for health and in educating in the practical skills needed to do this.
How can a dietitian help you?
-
A dietician can provide advice about diets for clinical conditions such as diabetes, coeliac disease and heart disease.
-
Dieticians can also provide advice on any nutritional issue, such as healthy diets for varying age groups, advice on how to put on weight, how to lose weight, and information on the nutritional value of particular foods.
Accessing the service
To make an appointment to see the dietitian, telephone 61 2 9382 7111, (page number 21511), Monday - Friday from 9am - 5.30pm.
If you wish to see the dietician for advice about a clinical condition, a referral from a medical practitioner is required. General nutritional advice can be provided without a referral.
