General Emergancy Staff

Sydney Hospital Emergency Department provides 24 hour, seven day emergency care to workers and residents of the inner city, tourists and the homeless.

Our goal is to maintain the excellent reputation of Australia’s oldest hospital through the provision of quality emergency care.

We are affiliated with both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales and play an active role in both undergraduate and postgraduate education and research.

The Emergency Department is the main conduit for inpatient admissions to the hospital, and accepts ‘walk in’ presentations and ambulance cases.

Communication with your GP prior to referral will assist in providing the most appropriate and expedient care.

We also liaise with community services and participate in outreach programs for the disadvantaged and the homeless.
