1924 |
In July, community action begun to establish a local hospital for the people of Bondi Junction, Waverley and the Vaucluse Peninsula. |
1931 |
The First Board was appointed in May by the NSW Government to head the establishment of the new Hospital. |
1934 |
Foundation stones were laid. |
1935 |
The Eastern Suburbs hospital opened in February on a five acre site near Queen's Park. |
1943 |
The U.S. Navy Authority took over, turning the site into a Naval Hospital. |
1944 |
In March the U.S. Navy vacated, and the Hospital re-opened with many of the original staff. |
1968 |
The NSW Government decided to disband the existing Eastern Suburbs hospital Board and to place the Hospital under the administration of the joint Boards of Directors of The Prince Henry and The Prince of Wales boards. |
1980 |
The Eastern Suburbs hospital officially ceased operations on June 30th. |
