General Information about the Randwick Campus

This guide has been created to help you find your way in and around the Randwick Hospitals Campus.

Many services such as ATM's and cafes can be found on the campus, others can be reached by a short walk to the main street of Randwick where you will find large retail outlets and specialty stores to meet your needs.

Childcare facilities

POW Place Community Child Care Centre provides long day care for up to 45 children, aged three months to five years, during the day and 15 children, aged 4 months to 12 years, in the evening.

All staff are qualified and experienced carers and the facility is open Monday to Friday (except public holidays), for most of the year, closing for two weeks only over the Christmas period.

Food

The Forecourt Cafe
- Located at the Main Hospital Entrance (Barker Street) Level 0, this cafe is open between 7am - 6pm.
- Serving a wide range of foods to suit any taste including hot and cold breakfast selection in the morning to a lunch menu that includes salads, sandwiches and sushi as well as hot meals. In between you can drop in anytime for a freshly made espresso coffee, tea or hot chocolate for morning or afternoon tea.
The Garden Cafe
- The Garden Cafe is located on Level 1 of the High Street building and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
- They offer a variety of sandwiches, pies and sausage rolls, pastries and beverages for a meal on the run or a light lunch in the sun.
Randwick Restaurants
- Randwick has many restaurants and takeaway outlets within walking distance of the Randwick Hospitals’ Campus.
- Located along Belmore Road, and in The Spot you can find food from around the world including: Italian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, Malay and Indonesian as well as a range of cafes, cake shops and bakeries.

There are many leisure activities to choose from in and around Randwick.

Beaches
Bondi Beach and Coogee Beach are located a short distance from the Randwick Hospital campus, and are accessible through public transport or by car. Enjoy the fresh sea breezes and take advantage of the relaxing sea walk and the seaside cafés open day and night. Please remember to "Slip, Slop, Slap" when you are spending time outside in the sun.

Randwick City Library can be found on the first floor of the Royal Randwick Shopping Centre, Belmore Street Randwick. For more information phone 02 9399 6966.
Movie Theatre
The Ritz Cinema can be located at "The Spot", 45 St Pauls Street, Randwick, showing the latest releases every day. For more information about movie times phone 02 9611 4811.
Outdoors
For nature lovers the Botany Bay National Park is located eight kilometres south east of the Randwick campus and has a variety of walking tracks, Aboriginal heritage sites, museums and other recreation activities. Pubs/Hotels

Randwick Bowling Alley

Retailers
Alongside some of the major retailers located in Randwick you will find a large number of boutique outlets, bookshops and specialty stores offering a wide range of retail opportunities and services.
Royal Randwick Racecourse
Royal Randwick Racecourse is within walking distance of the Randwick Hospital campus. Race days are held at least once a month during the winter months and more frequently during the Spring and Summer carnivals. For more information please phone 02 9663 8400.

Sports Centre and Swimming Pool
Located at the University of NSW, High Street, the centre includes a gym and pool which can be used on a casual basis or as a member.

Parking

Parking on the Randwick Hospital campus is very easy. There are more than 2000 car parking spots available for patients, visitors and staff. The carpark is located below the main Hospital Entrance and can be reached via Easy Street.
Parking is charged at a rate of $2.00 per hour up to three hours, or $12.00 per day (flat rate for three to 24 hours).
A five day Congress Ticket is also available, which allows parking for five consecutive days with unlimited entry per day.

Public Transport

As a visitor or patient of the Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick, you may require public transport to get to and from the Hospital, City or beaches during your stay.

Taxis

There are taxi phones in the Forecourt and High Street entrances to The Prince of Wales Hospital, and the foyers of the Royal Hospital for Women and Sydney Children’s Hospital as well as the adult Emergency Department. There is also a taxi rank directly outside the Hospital's High Street entrance.
