On 1 January 2011 two new Local Health Networks came into effect, replacing the former South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service. These Local Health Networks – covering South Eastern Sydney and the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region – will allow greater local involvement in health planning and decision-making by clinicians and the local community. The Illawarra Shoalhaven LHN and South Eastern Sydney LHN will be led by a Chief Executive and a government-appointed Governing Council. |
