Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) nutrition interventions.
The Division, in collaboration with the Albion Street Centre nursing unit, implemented a demonstration project targeting the nutritional health of people attending Needle and Syringe Programs as part of NSW HIV/AIDS Health Promotion Plan. The project highlighted that nutrition was a health concern for people who were using drugs. This brief nutrition intervention can be incorporated into other NSP health promotion programs. Several project activities are ongoing, and new partnerships are evolving. Contact the NDD for available resources and further information.
Cooking classes and nutrition classes. Cooking skills are extremely important to translate nutritional knowledge into enjoyable food. Cooking and nutrition classes are conducted as part skill building activities with partner organisations.
