Information Lines
The Albion Street Centre offers a number of state-wide telephone based services. Staff of the Information Lines take around 5000 calls per year. Anyone can call the lines.
HIV Information Line: Ph: 02 9332 9700 or 1800 451 600
Monday to Friday: 8.00am - 6.30pm, except for public holidays.
The New South Wales HIV Information Line is a service for the whole of NSW. The Service has operated from the Albion Street Centre since 1985, providing telephone information, support and referral about HIV and related issues.
The staff at the HIV Information Line can
- answer caller queries about HIV and related issues
- provide information about prevention and risk reduction, safe sex, safe needle use and infection control
- refer callers, if appropriate, to professional services at the Albion Street Centre or regionally
Needle Clean-up Hotline: Ph: 1800 633 353
Monday to Friday: 8.00am - 6.30pm with an answering machine at other times.
The Needle Clean-up Hotline is a service that coordinates the clean-up of dumped needles and syringes across the whole of NSW.
Gay Men’s Health Line: Ph: 1800 009 448
Monday to Friday: 8.00am - 6.30pm, except for public holidays.
The Gay Men’s Health Line offers information about issues relating to Gay Men’s Sexual Health.
PEP Hotline: Ph: 1800 737 669
24 Hours, 7 days a week.
The HIV PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis ) Hotline is a service offered in partnership with St Vincents Hospital, that provides information, assessment and a referral service for people from NSW who think they may require HIV PEP following a possible high risk exposure to HIV.
The PEP Hotline is not an information line for general questions about HIV/AIDS.
