The Albion Street Centre Medical Unit is staffed by a team of experienced clinicians whose expertise includes:

  • Clinical epidemiology
  • Infectious diseases
  • Primary care
  • Sexual health for HIV positive people and homosexually active men
  • HIV related issues for women

The role of the Medical Unit is to:

  • Monitor the immunology of asymptomatic and symptomatic patients
  • Optimise anti-retroviral and prophylactic strategies intergrating HIV management into the patients overall health management
  • Provide ambulatory care services, including lumbar puncture, biopsy and blood transfusions.

The Medical Staff:

  • Assess and monitor occupational exposure to infectious disease
  • Collect data on clinical trials
  • Undertake home visits and support liaising with community agencies

The Medical Unit is also a referral point for appropriate specialist assessment and inpatient care.

In addition, on-site clinics are conducted by specialists in areas including:

  • Dermatology
  • Psychiatry
  • Hepatitis
