The Albion Street Centre is Australia’s largest HIV ambulatory care centre, providing a full range of outpatient and day treatment services, with a multidisciplinary approach to holistic client centred care and support.
As well as early recognition and management of HIV related conditions, several specialist on-site clinics are conducted in a number of areas, including:
- Dermatology
- Psychiatry
- Hepatitis
- Nutrition
Other services include:
- Full immunological and viral load monitoring
- Provision of prevention and health education for patients
- Assessment and management of occupational exposures
- Anonymous and confidential HIV antibody testing
- Access to clinical trials
- Access to full pharmacy services
The objectives of clinical services are:
- To be responsive to the changing patterns of HIV infection and the needs of the local community
- To provide one-stop shopping access to optimal health services
- To minimise patient hospitalisation - maximising quality of life
- To facilitate patient access to the most current therapies available through clinical drug trials
The Division of Sexual Health is responsible for STI screening, diagnosis and treatment for HIV positive people, their partners, and men who have sex with men (priority populations under the NSW Health STI Strategy).
