Special Commission of Inquiry into NSW Public Hospitals
In 2008, the NSW Government established the Special Commission of Inquiry
into Acute Care in NSW Public Hospitals to identify any systemic issues
impacting on the delivery of care and make recommendations about changes that
will lead to improvements.
Peter Garling SC headed the Inquiry which included public and private hearings
across NSW as well as the receipt of many private submissions. Commissioner
Garling SC handed down
his findings on 27 November 2008.
The NSW Government has responded with an Action Plan to address Commissioner
Garling’s recommendations and set the platform for generational change in the
NSW public health system.
