South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Health Service today welcomed the
launch of the Woolworths Annual Kids Hospital Appeal.
The Appeal raises vital funds for local hospital equipment and
this year will work towards the purchase of vital signs monitors
for Shoalhaven Hospital’s Special Care Nursery and specialised
equipment for the care of children in Wollongong Hospital Emergency
Department.
Sue Browbank, General Manager of the Southern Network, SESIH said
that in the past the appeal has raised in excess of $70,000 from
the Illawarra-South Coast area alone.
“Our children’s wards benefit enormously from this contribution
through additional medical equipment resulting in improved and more
comfortable care.
“The community support for this project is always astounding,
and our staff and patients continue to see the benefits of Woolworths
getting behind our local health services,” she said.
Last year the funds purchased a special portable ventilator for
children and babies at Shoalhaven Hospital and a special ear, nose
and throat (ENT) equipment for children at Wollongong.
“It’s great to see people giving generously to help kids, the local
community has a strong record of getting behind good causes,”
Ms Browbank said.
The appeal will involve events such as sausage sizzles, lamington
drives, trivia nights and mufti-days which will be held from
Friday 21 August through until 11 October.
