The St George Hospital
The St George Hospital offers a
comprehensive and co-ordinated Basic Physician
Training program, which is fully accredited by
the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
The St George Hospital encompasses Albury, Coffs
Harbour, Fairfield, St George, Shoalhaven and
Sutherland Hospitals.
The possibilities of job-sharing and part time
training for Basic Physician Trainees will be
considered, in order to facilitate and support
training where possible.
Rotations include aged care, cardiology,
gastroenterology, general medicine, haematology,
intensive care, neurology, nephrology, medical
oncology and thoracic medicine. The program
includes rotations to the Network hospitals to
gain invaluable exposure to general medicine and
regional physician training. All positions
involve after-hours rostering and relief terms
involving night shifts.
The St_George_Hospital has a strong commitment to
teaching and providing a supportive environment
for Basic Physician Training. The program
includes a lecture series held at the St George
Hospital prior to the written examination as
well as video-conferencing facilities for the
RACP lectures. Extensive preparation for the
clinical examination is provided with a clinical
case program, tutorials and trial examinations.
Professional development and ongoing support is
incorporated in the program.
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent and completion of two postgraduate years
- Eligible for medical registration with the NSW Medical Board
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
