Port Macquarie Hospital

  • Port Macquarie is the focal point of the Hastings area and the regional centre of the mid north coast.
  • Situated 420km north of Sydney (only a one hour flight), it boasts one of the best climates in Australia.
  • Registrars are supported by a dynamic physician group actively interested in teaching. The staff are keen to foster long-term relationships with trainees so they come back and work in the region.
  • 161 beds incorporating ICU/CCU, Neonatal ICU, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Surgical, Short Stay, Medical Rehab, Medical/Palliative and Mental Health.
  • UNSW has an established rural medical school at Port Macquarie for senior medical students.

Prince of Wales Hospital

  • Prince of Wales is a part of the Randwick Hospital Campus, adjacent to Sydney Children's Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women and Prince of Wales Private Hospital.
  • A tertiary and quaternary service with a full range of services as well as one of the largest Interventional Cardiac Services, Renal Transplantation on site, HIV Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Thalassaemia service, comprehensive Epilepsy service, Spinal Medicine and the State's Hyperbaric chamber.
  • Significant ambulatory care and outpatient exposure with 140,000 outpatient attendances each year.

  • Close links with Wollongong hospital, the referral centre for higher-level care, and is located within close reach of a regional shopping centre, beautiful beaches, the rural hinterland, and the highlands.

Sydney Hospital

  • Located in Sydney's CBD, Sydney Hospital has a busy Emergency Department, a variety of outpatient clinics and a number of medical wards. Sydney is a tertiary referral institution for ophthalmology and a referral centre for hand surgery.
  • A busy general medicine department is serviced by general physicians each of whom are actively engaged in clinical practice in one of the following subspecialties: Neurology; Respiratory Medicine; Allergy; Gastroenterology; Cardiology; Rheumatology; Endocrinology; and Renal Medicine.

Wollongong Hospital

  • Serving a population of approximately 300,000, this major teaching and referral hospital is located in Wollongong's CBD. A major teaching hospital with 435 beds and a referral centre for the Illawarra region.
