Clinical Support Officers (CSO)

Why is SESIAHS recruiting these positions?

Clinical Support Officers form a key platform of the NSW Government’s Caring Together – Health Action Plan for NSW.  These positions will greatly enhance the support provided to clinical staff working in acute-care facilities, taking on the administrative workload and allowing our clinicians to devote more time to direct patient care.

What the Clinical Support Officer position involves

The Clinical Support Officer (CSO) role will be ward or unit based and support the work activities of nurses, midwives, medical staff and allied health staff.

The CSO may work in an individual ward, across a range of wards or across the entire facility. Depending on the needs of the facility, shiftwork may be involved and working hours will be determined by local facility management when establishing the new position.

The CSO will work under the leadership of the Nurse in Charge and alongside existing administrative staff, ward clerks and communication officers to undertake those non-clinical and administrative duties now being done by medical, nursing and allied health staff.

People with skills in providing timely and accurate administrative support and those with an interest in working in the healthcare sector are encouraged to apply.
